Die Fotos dieser Serie erzählen jeweils eine persönliche Geschichte, denn sie wurden gemeinsam mit den Portraitierten im Rahmen des Caritas-Projekts „Minderheit der Roma. Lernen für’s Leben“ in Banja Luka (Leitung: Elisabeth Hartl) erarbeitet.

Each picture of this series tells a personal story, because the photographer worked closely with the portrayed persons. The photo-project was part of the Caritas-project “The Roma-Minority. Learning for Life” in Banja Luka (project manager: Elisabeth Hartl).

Fotografije te serije pripovedujejo vsaka posebej osebno zgodbo, ker so bile izdelane skupaj s portretiranimi v okviru Caritas projekta “Manjšina Romov. Učiti se za življenje” v Banji Luki (pod vodstvom Elisabeth Hartl).

Der „Gypsy Style“ garantiert in der Modewelt finanzielle Erfolge. Die reale Lebenssituation von Roma ist dabei kaum Thema. Fest verankerte Fremdbilder erschweren es Roma, ihre Kultur und Tradition selbst zu definieren. Wir nutzen Mode als Plattform für politischen Aktivismus für den Aufbau eines europäischen Netzwerks von Roma-Communities. Nach der Präsentation sind die Ergebnisse in einer Ausstellung zu sehen.

The „Gypsy Style“ always guarantees a financial success in the fashion world. But the real living situation of Roma is not represented here. Deep-rooted prejudices discourage Roma to define their culture and tradition by themselves. We use fashion as a platform for political activism to help create a European network of Roma-communities. After the presentation the work will be presented in an exhibition.

„Gipsy Style“ zagotavlja v svetu mode finančni uspeh. Realna življenska situacija Romov se pri tem ne omenja. Močno zasidrani stereotipi otežujejo Romom samim, definirati lastno kulturo in tradicijo. Mi uporabljamo modo kot platformo za politični aktivizem, za izgradnjo evropske mreže romskih skupnosti. Po predstavitvi bodo rezultati na ogled na razstavi.

Roma sind die größte Minderheit in Europa und zugleich die am stärksten diskriminierte. Vertreibungen und rassistisch motivierte Gewalt gegen Roma finden bis heute statt, auch und gerade in den Ländern der EU. Aber seit einigen Jahrzehnten findet auch ein politischer und kultureller Aufbruch der Roma statt, den wir mit der ROMALE! unterstützen.

Gemeinsam mit Roma-Vereinen und Roma-AktivistInnen organisieren wir kulturellen Austausch sowohl zwischen den Roma-Communities selbst als auch zwischen Minderheit und Mehrheit. Dazu findet ein biennales Festival statt, das die Vielfalt der Volksgruppe der Roma abseits von Klischees, Stereotypen und Traditionalismen vorstellt und die zum großen Teil menschenrechtsverletzenden Lebensbedingungen der Roma in Europa zum Thema macht.

Roma are the largest ethnic minority in Europe and at the same time the most discriminated one. Displacements and racial violence against Roma still occur, currently and directly in the countries of the EU. However, within the past decades a political and a cultural break-up of Roma is taking place.
Together with Roma-associations and Roma-activists the ROMALE! organizes a cultural exchange between Roma-communities as well as between minority and majority society. For that purpose a biennial festival presents the diversity of Roma culture apart from clichés, stereotypes or traditionalism, but also addresses the living conditions of Roma in Europe as a violation of human rights for the most part.

Romi so največja in istočasno najbolj diskriminirana manjšina v Evropi.
Pregon in rasistično motivirano nasilje nad Romi se dogaja do današnjih dni, tudi in prav v državah evropske unije. Ampak že par desetletij se vrši politični in kulturni preporod Romov.
Skupaj z romskimi društvi in romskimi aktivisti organizira ROMALE! kulturno izmenjavo tako med romskimi skupnostmi kot tudi med manjšino in večino. Obstaja pa tudi bienalni festival, ki predstavlja Rome v svoji raznolikosti, daleč stran od klišejev, steretipov in tradicionalizmov in tematizira življenske pogoje Romov v Evropi.
